This pleasant apartment is located on the basement level of a private home, and is suitable for one or two tenants. It has a private entrance located on the side of the house, with a sidewalk and small patio outside. Due to the grade of the land here, the entrance to the apartment is at ground level (not below ground), and that side of the house gets lots of sunlight, especially in the late afternoon, which is somewhat sheltered from the wind, so it's quite warm in the wintertime. And, because much of the apartment is underground with a level above, it costs fairly little to heat in the winter, and in the summer it is naturally cool, to the point where there is no need for air conditioning (just a dehumidifier in the summer).
There's a foyer (9' x 6'), bathroom (5' x 8'), large bedroom (12' x 15'), living room (10' x 19'), kitchen (8' x 8'), and an office/laundry room (10' x 10', this room doesn't have any windows). There is a private oversized mailbox on the road for the apartment.
This apartment has just undergone several thousand dollars of renovations in February, 2005--most importantly including hookup and installation of a new, very high-quality full-sized washer and dryer, which required the addition of a 30-amp 220 volt circuit, wire molding, dryer vent, drain, and water supply installation. It's also been repainted, trimmed with new molding, had ceiling tiles, smoke detector, toilet seat and other items replaced, and has been throughly cleaned. I've also installed 3.5" fiberglass acoustical installation in all of the walls and ceilings adjoining the rest of the house, to provide the additional privacy of not having sound easily carry outside your living space (and vice versa).
We're still intending on landscaping the exterior with a stone retaining wall and a small additional patio area.
Optional Storage Room
There is also a small storage room (8' x 6') between the back of the apartment and the basement (each of which has a locking door) that is negotiable for a small fee, if you need a place to store a few stacks of extra boxes and such. The floor will be coated with an epoxy finish by April.
